Social Accountability (SA)
SA8000 is based on human rights conventions from the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UN Convention of Rights of the Child. It includes elements to help: Through independently announced and unannounced audit and certification, SA8000 helps an organization to publicly demonstrate their conformance to accepted principles for Social Accountability. SA 8000 focuses on the performance of organisations in eight principles: child labour, forced and Cumulsory labour, health and safety, freedom of association and collective bargaining, discrimination of sex , disciplinary practices, working hours and remuneration.
